And I (Allâh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship me (Alone). (Dhariyat:56)

And We send down from the Qur’an that which is a Healing and a Mercy to those who believe (Isra:82)

And I (Allâh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship me (Alone). (Dhariyat:56)

Verily, those who say: “Our Lordis Allah (Alone),” and then they Istaqamu (remain upright), on them theangels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not,nor grieve!… (Fussilat:30)

The life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for thosewho are AlMuttaqûn (the pious). Will you not thenunderstand? (An’am:32)

Whatsoeverthe Messenger (Muhammad salla lahu alayhi wa salaam) gives you, takeit, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fearAllâh. Verily, Allâh is Severe in punishment. (Hashr:7)

Andseek help in patience andAs-Salât (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard exceptfor Al-Khâshi’ûn [i.e. the true believers in Allâh – those who obeyAllâh with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believein His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)].(Baqarah:45)

And those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise ingroups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be opened and itskeepers will say: Salamun ‘Alaikum! You have done well, so enter hereto abide therein.” (Zumar:73)

Soif they believe in the like of that which you (Muhammad, salla lahualayhi wa salaam) believe, then they are rightly guided, but if theyturn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allah will suffice youagainst them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (Baqara:137)

Allah is the Walî (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light… (Baqara: 257)

And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, lossof wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sâbirin (thepatient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! ToAllâh we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.” (Al-Baqarah 2:155-156)

Lord of the heavens and the earth (Ruboobiyyah), and all that is between them, so worship Him (alone) (Uloohiyyah) and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know of any who is similar to Him(Asma was Siffat) ? (Maryam:65) -of course none is similar or coequal or comparable to Him, and He hasnone as partner with Him. There is nothing like unto Him and He is theAll-Hearer, the All-Seer.

Verily!Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship withHim, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoeversets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.(Nisa:116)

‘O you whobelieve, do not make unlawful the good things Allah has made lawful foryou, and do not overstep the limits. Allah does not love people whooverstep the limits.’ (Ma’idah:87)

And surely, We gave youauthority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (foryour life). Little thanks do you give. (A’raf:10)

And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. (Nur:31)

Our Lord!Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on usa burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews andChristians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we havestrength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us.You are our Maulâ (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector, etc.) and give usvictory over the disbelieving people.” (Baqarah:286)

All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has guidedus to this (Islaam). Never could we have found guidance, were it notthat Allah had guided us! Indeed, the Messengers of our Lord did comewith the truth. (Araf:43)

“Remind them with the Qur’an”

Allah ta ala says: “Remind them with the Qur’an” (An’am:70)

This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. (Maida:3)

And surely many do lead (mankind) astray by their own desires through lack of knowledge. (An’am:119)

“Hold on firmly to that which We have given you.” (Baqara:63)

If there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray, nor fall into distress and misery. (TaHa:123)

THE GUIDANCE:

“Whatsoever the Messenger (salla lahu alayhi wa salaam) gives then take it and whatsoever he forbids from then abstain from it.” (Hashr:7)

So if they believe in the like of that which you (Muhammad, salla lahualayhi wa salaam) believe, then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition. So Allah will suffice you against them. And He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. (Baqara:137)

O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination.(Nisa:59)

The Messenger of Allah salla lahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Whoever innovates or accommodates an innovator then upon him is the curse of Allaah, His Angels and the whole of mankind.” Reported by Bukhaaree (12/41) and Muslim (9/140)

The Prophet salla lahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Allah has accepted my invocation to forgive what whispers in the hearts of my followers, unless they put it to action or utter it (outwardly).” (Bukhari #2367 & see Hadith No. 657 Vol. 8)

STOP wherever the evidence stops. Once there is evidence they (the Believers) leave aside their own opinions and statements and they adhere to the truth, whatever it may be.

Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah

points out: “This group is stationery wherever the daleel (evidence) is stationery and they move with the daleel wherever the daleel moves. Once there is evidence they adhere to it and take it and they go to it collectively and individually.”

Umar ibn Abd-il-Azeez said something with the meaning, Stop where the people have stopped. For indeed, they stopped upon receiving knowledge. The clear evidences would suffice them and they were the strongest at manifesting it. If there were any merit in something, they would be most deserving of having done it. So if you say: it was introduced after them, then no one introduces into it except for he who opposed their guidance and desired other than their example. They have described from it what was enough and they have spoken concerning it what sufficed. What is above them is excessive. And what is below them is inadequacy. Some people have fallen short of them and so they have drawn away. And others have transgressed them and so they became extreme. But indeed, they were between these two, upon a straight guidance. (ibn Qudaamah, Al-Burhaan Fee Bayaan-il-Qur’an, pg. 88,89)

It is incumbent upon you to adhere to the narrations of as-Salaf (the pious predecessors and those who follow them upon goodness), even if the people avoid you and reject you (for that). And beware of Aaraa’ ar-Rijaal (baseless opinions of men), even if they beautify it, and make it attractive for you with their speech. Al-Imaam Abu ‘Amr Al-Awzaa’ee (d. 157H)

And ALL OF YOU beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful (Nur:31); Verily I am indeed forgiving to him who repents, believes and does righteous deeds, then follow the right way. (TaHa:82)

Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us; our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us.You are our Maulâ (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (Baqarah:286) – Ameen

And in Allah (Alone) let believers put their trust. (Aali Imran:160)

The Concise Legacy

The Concise Legacy

By Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen (rahimahullah)

A transcript of a short phone lecture held by the Shaykh for the brothersin England. It consists of six concise pieces of advice that all of the Muslims can benefit from.

The Sheikh rahima-hullah began with Khutbat al Haajah, then proceeded:

On this night, Sunday the 27th of Rabee’ul-Awwal 1417H – which corresponds to the 10th of August 1996CE – I am pleased to have this opportunity to say a few words to you. I hope that Allaah would bless them and that He would also bless our brothers in England; who have traveled from various places in order to hear these few words on the telephone, for which they will receive – with the help of Allaah – that promise which has been mentioned by the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) when he said: “Whosoever treads a path to seek knowledge, then Allaah would make easy for him a path to Paradise.” [1] So I ask from my brothers to accept these wasaayah (legacies) which I hope would be of benefit to them:

THE FIRST LEGACY:

So I advised you to have the taqwaa of Allaah – the Mighty and Majestic –both in private and public. And taqwaa means that a person should stand firm upon the obedience of Allaah, doing what Allaah ordered him to do, and abandoning what He prohibited him from, starting with establishing the Salaat (Prayer) in their fixed and stated times, and in congregation, for those who are obliged to do so. Along with the five daily Prayers, you should also pray the rawaatib (stressed and recommended Prayers) which are connected to the five daily Prayers –and they are four rak’ahs before the Dhuhr Prayer and two after it. Two rak’ahs after the Maghrib Prayer. Two rak’ahs after the ’Ishaa‘Prayer. And two rak’ahs before the Fajr Prayer. The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said: “There is no Muslimwho prays the twelve optional rak’ahs from the non-obligatory Prayerevery day, except that Allaah will build for him a house in Paradise.”[2] Likewise, you should pay the zakaat; which is an the needy. Allaah– the Most High – said to his Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam):

“Take charity from their wealth in order to purify them and to sanctify them by it.” [Sooratut-Tawbah 9:103]

TheProphet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said to Mu’aadh Ibn Jabal(radiyallaahu ’anhu), when he was sending him to Yemen: “And informthem that Allaah has obligated upon them to give charity from theirwealth, to be taken from the rich and given to the poor.” [3] Likewise, one should fast in the month of Ramadaan, because Allaah has prescribedit for this Ummah, and one should make the Hajj (Pilgrimage) and the ’Umrah (Lesser Pilgrimage)for whosoever has the ability to do so. These are the pillars ofIslaam, after the first pillar which is Shahaadatayn (the twotestimonies); to testify that none has the right to be worshippedexcept Allaah, and to testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah.

THE SECOND LEGACY:

Iadvise my brothers that they should unify their ranks, and that theyshould be like a single body seeking to establish the Religion ofAllaah, as Allaah – the Most High – said:

“Allaah has ordainedfor you the same Religion which He ordained to Nooh, and that which Werevealed to the Prophet, and that which We prescribed to Ibraaheem,Moosaa and ’Eesaa, saying: That you should establish the Religion bydoing that which you were commanded with, and that you should not makeany divisions in it.” [Sooratush-Shooraa 42:13]

Thus it becomesvery clear that what is required from us – as it was required from theProphets who were foremost in resolve – is to establish the Religionand not to make any divisions therein. So our Lord – the Mighty andMajestic – ordered us to establish the Religion and not to make anydivisions in it. O my brothers! Unite your ranks, and do not differ, since Allaah – the Most High – said:

“And do not dispute witheach other, unless you lose courage and your power departs, but bepatient. For indeed Allaah is with those who are patient.”[Sooratul-Anfaal 8:46]

Do not label each other as being deviant, nor label each other as sinners. If you see any of your brothers thatwhich is objectionable, then go to them and debate with them aboutthis, until your word is unified, and thus cause the Ummah to remainunited. None of you should try to slander his brother, since this willcause a great deal of enmity and hatred. Likewise, none of you shoulddeclare his Muslim brother to be a disbeliever, innovator or a sinner –since this is not from the nature of a Muslim.

THE THIRD LEGACY:

Ialso advise you – O brothers – to do those actions which will be thecause of love and affection to develop between you. Many people do nottruly understand the Religion of Islaam. Indeed many people think thatthe Religion of Islaam includes certain bad traits – even though Islaamin reality objects to them – because some Muslims portray a false imageof Islaam. Rather, the Religion of Islaam is a Religion oftruthfulness, righteousness and justice. It is a Religion which callsfor the reconciling of people. It is also a Religion which wages waragainst all bad actions and characteristics; such as lying, cheating, deception and transgressing upon others. Allaah – the Most High – said:

“IndeedAllaah enjoins you upon justice, kindness and the giving of good torelatives and near ones, and He prohibits you from all shameful and evil deeds, oppression and transgression. He admonishes you, in order that you maytake heed and be reminded. And fulfil the Covenant of Allaah when youhave made it, and do not break your oaths after you have confirmedthem, and indeed you have appointed Allaah as your Guarantor. IndeedAllaah knows all what you do.”

[Sooratun-Nahl 16:90-91]

Omy brothers, da’wah (calling to Islaam) is to be done by your actions,as you are commanded to do with your speech. However da’wah throughactions will be more effective than da’wah which is merely done withspeech. So I say again, that those who practice Islaam in a wrongmanner, they will create a false understanding of Islaam in people’sview. Allaah – the Most High – has said about those who invite to whatis correct, but do not practice themselves:

“O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do. It is most hateful to Allaahthat you say that which you do not do.” [Sooratus-Saff 61: 2-3]

THE FOURTH LEGACY:

Iadvise you all to safeguard your time and to occupy yourselves in thatwhich is beneficial. You should know that time is more precious thanwealth, as Allaah – the Most Blessed, the Most High – said:

“Untilwhen death comes to him, he says: O my lord! Send me back so that Imay then do good in that which I have left behind.” [Sooratul-Mu‘minoon24:99-100]

Time is such that when it departs it does not return, whereas wealth, when it departs, then it is possible to replace it. Sotime is of the utmost importance. This is why I advise you tosafeguard your time, and to occupy yourselves in that which benefits. Keep away from qeela wa qaal (gossiping) – that so and so said such andsuch about this and that person – because the Prophet sAllaahu ‘alayhiwa sallam said in an authentic narration: “Indeed Allaah hates qeela waqaal (gossip mongering), asking too many questions, and wasting one’swealth.” [4] Unfortunately, many of the youths – after returning to thecorrect path, and uniting their hearts and unifying their word havebecome disunited and fragmented into many factions, and this is due tothe whisperings of Shaytaan amongst them and the disuniting of theirword. So advise the brothers to utilize your time in beneficialmatters, and to keep away from qeela wa qaal. Indeed, time is like asword; either you strike it, or it will strike you!

THE FIFTH LEGACY:

Callto Allaah with mildness, forbearance, and intending to rectify matters– not with harshness, nor intending to cause divisions. This isbecause Allaah – the Most Perfect – said to His Prophet (sallaahu’alayhi wa sallam):

“Call mankind to the way prescribed by yourLord, with wisdom, and admonish them with the examples and warningsthat Allaah has provide in is Book, and argue with them in a way thatis better.” [Sooratun-Nahl 16:125]

“By the mercy of Allaah youbehaved with gentleness towards them. Had you been severe orhard-hearted they you have left you and departed. So pass over theirfaults, and ask Allaah to forgive them, and consult them in theiraffairs.” [Soorah Aali-’Imraan 3:159]

Thus, it is obligatory forthe Believer to follow the Prophet (sallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) inthis, and to be mild and forbearing in calling to Allaah – the MostBlessed, the Most High – since it is authentically established from theProphet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) that he said: “Indeed Allaah isgentle and loves gentleness, and He gives due to gentleness that whichHe does not give due to harshness.” [5]

THE SIXTH LEGACY

Strivehard in acquiring knowledge, since that is the reason why you have leftyour cities and homes, and have left your families and friends. So itis upon you all to strive hard in gaining knowledge, and to studydeeply – not merely to take an exam, rather it is for the knowledgeitself. So strive hard in seeking knowledge. Finally, I ask Allaahthat He enables us to utilize our time in a beneficial way, accordingto what Allaah – the Most Blessed, the Most High – has made usresponsible for.

Religion Of Al-Islaam

Bismillah

O brothers (and sisters) – do those actions which will be the cause of love and affection to develop between you.

Many people do not truly understand the Religion of Islaam. Indeed many people think that the Religion of Islaam includes certain bad traits – even though Islaam in reality objects to them – because some Muslims portray a false image of Islaam.

Rather, the Religion of Islaam is a Religion of truthfulness, righteousness and justice. It is a Religion which calls for the reconciling of people. It is also a Religion which wages war against all bad actions and characteristics; such as lying, cheating, deception and transgressing upon others. Allaah – the Most High – said:

“Indeed Allaah enjoins you upon justice, kindness and the giving of good to relatives and near ones, and He prohibits you from all shameful and evil deeds, oppression and transgression. He admonishes you, in order that you may take heed and be reminded. And fulfill the Covenant of Allaah when you have made it, and do not break your oaths after you have confirmed them, and indeed you have appointed Allaah as your Guarantor. Indeed Allaah knows all what you do.” (Nahl:90-91)

O my brothers (and sisters), da’wah (calling to Islaam) is to be done by your actions, as you are commanded to do with your speech. However da’wah through actions will be more effective than da’wah which is merely done with speech. So I say again, that those who practice Islaam in a wrong manner, they will create a false understanding of Islaam in people’s view. Allaah – the Most High – has said about those who invite to what is correct, but do not practice themselves:

“O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do. It is most hateful to Allaah that you say that which you do not do.” (Saff:2-3)

Every Misguidance Is In The Fire

Author: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

Source: Majmoo’ Fataawa wa Rasaa’il – Volume Two, Number 345

His eminence, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) was asked concerning bid’ah (innovations).

He answered by saying: The Prophet (Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam) said regarding innovations:

“Be careful about the invented matters for every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the fire.”

And if this is so, then one has to be warned from following any innovation, whether it is initial or continual, for it is, as the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “in the fire”, meaning that misguidance is the cause of the punishment in the fire and the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) warned his nation from the innovations necessitating that that they are a sheer corruption because the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said generally concerning this: “every innovation is misguidance”.

Therefore, the innovations, in reality are indirect criticisms of theShari’ah; because they necessitate the implication that the Shar’iah is incomplete and that the innovation is a more perfect form of worship to seek nearness to Allaah as the innovators claims.

Then to the innovators we say: “Every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the fire”. And it is a duty to warn about all the innovations and that mankind not worship Allaah except by what Allaah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) have legislated.

In this way, one’s Imaam will truly be the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم),for whomsoever follows the path of innovation then he has made the innovator his Imaam in that innovation, instead of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)..

The inheritance of Paradise – Shaykh al-Albaani (rahimahullaah)

shaykh al-albaani (rahimahullaah) discusses and clarifies a very important point about the believers entering, inheriting and enjoying jannah, a concept which the general muslimoon cannot immediately comprehend save with the clarification of the people of knowledge, wa lillaah ilhamd.

the shaykh‘s explanation particularly revolves around the two aayaat from the qur’aan and the hadeeth below:

-> “…Enter you Paradise because of that (the good) which you used to do (in the world).” (Surat ul-Nahl – 16:32)

-> “…This is the Paradise which you have inherited for what you used to do.” (Surat ul-A’raaf – 7:43)

-> The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “‘None of you will enter Paradise by his good deeds, but rather by the Favor of Allaah and His Mercy.’ They said, ‘Not even you O Messenger of Allaah?’. He [sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] said, ‘Not even myself, unless Allaah encompasses me with His Favor and His Mercy.’”

[this is exactly the way in which shaykh al-albaani relates it in the tape in terms of the wording, and he refers it to the saheehayn, i.e., saheeh al-bukhaari and saheeh muslim]

the shaykh then clarifies:

“Hence, for Paradise there is a price [that one must pay] and the two previous aayaat indicates that the price of Paradise is righteous deeds, and there is no doubt that good deeds do not benefit its owner at all except if he [or she] is a true believer in Allaah and His Messenger [sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam]. So therefore, the price of Paradise is eemaan (faith) and righteous deeds. Then how do we reconcile between…the two previous aayaat…and between that hadeeth: ‘None of you will enter Paradise by his good deeds, but rather by the Favor of Allaah and His Mercy’?

The reconciliation between this and this [the two aayaat and the hadeeth] is that…”

here the shaykh maa shaa Allaah gets into an elaborate discussion about the difference between the implications of letter “baa” in the two aayaat versus that in the hadeeth. it is very difficult to break down this portion of the talk as a plain translation will still require some clarification, so i have left it out; but the main point of the shaykh is still illustrated alhamdulillaah as he continues:

“…So that which is negated in the last hadeeth, ‘None of you will enter Paradise by his good deeds’ is one thing and that which is established in the aayah ‘Enter you Paradise because of that which you used to do’ is another thing. That which is established in the aayah and so forth is merely the entrance (into Paradise), i.e., the key of Paradise, as comes in some of the narrations…in Saheeh al-Bukhaari: For everything there is a key, and the key of Paradise is ‘laa ilaaha illAllaah.’ So the key of Paradise is this eemaan (faith) and righteous deeds. But, if this muslim enters Paradise and he enjoys in it, as comes in some authentic narrations, that which ‘no eye has ever seen, and no ear has ever heard and no human heart can ever perceive/think of’ [Saheeh al-Bukhaari/Muslim], so this type of enjoyment is not due to the price that he presented, this enjoyer, but rather this is from the Favor of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, and His Mercy.

So merely the entrance (into Paradise), its price is eemaan (faith) and righteous deeds. As for the types of enjoyment in Paradise, which includes that which we pointed to earlier [that] in it is what ‘no eye has ever seen, and no ear has ever heard and no human heart can ever perceive/think of eye,’ then there is no price for this, it is not possible to assign for it a price [i.e., it is priceless].”

next, the shaykh relates the story of the last man to be admitted to jannah as narrated by ibn mas’ood (radi Allaahu ‘anhu) from saheeh muslim. there are some extra details that the shaykh mentions as he narrates it, but it is the same hadeeth:

Allaah’s Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Indeed I know the last man to exit from the Fire and the last man to enter Paradise. A man will come out of the Fire crawling {here Shaykh al-Albaani comments: ‘the meaning of this is that he will exit from the Fire being the most punished in it from the muslimeen, and he exits (from the Fire) perished…, thus he is not able to walk upright as Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, created him’}…Then a tree would be raised up for him and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Allaah, the Exalted and Great, would say: O son of Adam, if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else. He will say: No my Lord. And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord…would bring him near it, and (the man) would take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Afterwards a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised up before him and he would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask You for anything else. (Allaah) would say: O son of Adam, if I bring you near it you may ask me for something else. He would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord…would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water. Then a tree would be raised up for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask You for anything else. (Allaah) would say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me anything else? (The man) would say: Yes, my Lord, but I shall not ask You for anything else. His Lord…would bring him near to it, and…(the man) would hear the voices of the inhabitants of Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! Admit me to it… Allaah would say to him: Go and enter Paradise, for there is for you the like of the world and ten times like it. The man will say {because of, as Shaykh al-Albaani explains, his barely being able to believe that this favor is being bestowed upon him} : O my Lord! Are You mocking at me, though You are the Lord of the worlds?. (Here, the narrator) Ibn Mas’ood (radi Allaahu ‘anhu) laughed and asked (those who were listening to him): Why don’t you ask me what I am laughing at. They said: Why do you laugh? He said: It is in this way that the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) laughed. They (the sahaaba) asked: Why do you laugh, Messenger of Allaah? He (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: On account of the laugh of the Lord of the universe, when (the man) said: Are you mocking at me, though You are the Lord of the worlds?…”

*the translation of the above hadeeth, for the most part, was taken directly from the already translated text of saheeh muslim*

the shaykh continues:

“This is the last person who will exit from the fire and the last person who will enter Paradise, [and] for him is the likes of the world and ten times like it. So does this perished person, who was the last person to exit the fire, does he deserve this vast dominion in Paradise because of his deeds? No, this is from the Favor of Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, and His Mercy…

[In conclusion], if we regard this explanation, the contradiction disappears between this hadeeth and between the two aayaat [mentioned in the beginning]. And this is [just] one example from many instances [in which] some contradiction between some texts [such as] the Qur’aan and Sunnah…appears to some people, even the sincere ones amongst them. So, the muslim must not be hasty and must reflect on both texts, and if he did not find the way to reconcile between the two, he should ask who is above him, as our Lord, the Blessed and Most High, said: ‘So ask the people of the Reminder (the people of knowledge) if you do not know’ [Surat ul-Ambiyaa – 21:7].”

Will Those from the 72 Misguided Sects Remain in the Hellfire Forever?

Will Those from the 72 Misguided Sects Remain in the Hellfire Forever? – Shaykh Fahad Ibn Sulaymaan Al-Fuhayd Oct 12, ’10 8:21 AM

for everyone

Question: Regarding the hadeeth of the saved sect, ‘all in the hellfire except one’[1], will those from the other 72 sects ever come out of the Hellfire or will they reside in the Hell forever so that they may be called kuffaar (Disbelievers), or will they come out of it after some time?

Answer: This question has 2 parts. The first part is that it is apparent that the questioner has misunderstood and has made a mistake pertaining to a very important matter. He has assumed that whoever was threatened by the Fire is a Kaafir (Disbeliever) or that the ruling of kufr (disbelief) is applicable to him; this is a big mistake. This is a big mistake because Allaah سبحانه وتعالى may have threatened them with the Fire due to their disobedience and not due to their being from the Disbelievers.

No doubt, the Disbelievers will abide in the Fire. Those disobedient to Allaah سبحانه وتعالى, for example the one who eats ribaa (usury) and the one who is undutiful to his parents and the likes of this; they are threatened with the punishment of the Fire. However, they are under the Will of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى which is the ‘Aqeedah (Creed) of Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah. If they are punished in the Fire they will not remain there forever because they are from the People of Tawheed.

As for the second part of this question, as it relates to statements of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم concerning the deviant sects “all of them in the fire except one.”[1] Firstly, ‘all of them in the fire’ (meaning the rest of the groups), does not mean that they are all Disbelievers, as previously mentioned.

Secondly, the meaning of this hadeeth is that whoever goes against the manhaj (methodology) of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Companions falls into following one of these deviant groups. So he is a sinner, committing a sin and great disobedience (to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) and is subject to punishment in the Fire.

Thirdly, from the People of Knowledge who are firm on this Deen from the `Ulamaa’ of Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah, is that from amongst the misguided groups are:

* those who are wrong or make mistakes

* those who disobeyed

* those who commit sins (faasiq)

* those who disbelieve e.g. they fall into extreme innovation, the likes of the extremists among the Raafidah, and the Jahmiyyah who deny the attributes of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى

* the atheists

* the hypocrite who acts upon disobedience

* the ignorant people who make mistakes;

These deviant groups are not on the same level; rather they are on different levels.

From another angle, Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jamaa’ah believes that if an individual (not the group) errs and goes against the manhaj of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Sahaabah, there are conditions which must be satisfied before he may be considered a disbeliever i.e. the conditions (which necessitate the ruling of takfeer) must be present altogether and the obstacles (which prevent the ruling of takfeer) must be negated. Then, the ruling of disbelief may be considered if the individual makes a statement of disbelief or if he is upon an aqeedah of disbelief.

We differentiate between the statement which is possibly a statement of disbelief and between the one who made the statement. So they generalize by saying that “someone who makes a statement of disbelief is generally considered a disbeliever”.

As for takfeer of a specific individual, then they are required to examine his condition i.e. the conditions (which necessitate the ruling of takfeer) must be present altogether and the obstacles (which prevent the ruling of takfeer) must be negated.

This is the answer by and large, therefore it is not correct to generalize the pronouncement of disbelief on these Muslim groups that they are all in the Fire. Rather, Allaah سبحانه وتعالى has commanded us to be just and the likes of this. Indeed, regarding the ruling of a specific individual being in the Fire, his affair is only with Allaah سبحانه وتعالى. Inshaa Allaah this is beneficial to our brother the questioner.

The Soul is a Grinding Stone

“So let my Enemies say what they will for my Sins are many, and perhaps because of their backbiting and slander My sins will be lightened and instead fall upon their shoulders ” Shaykh Muqbil Ibn Hadi Al-Wadi’ee (rahimullah) l

Ibn al Qayyim رحمه الله said:

It is well known that man has not been given to power to kill his thoughts nor the strength to severe them. They invade him just as his breathing invades his body.

However the strength of Imân and intellect helps him to accept his best thoughts , to be pleased with them, to experience peace and tranquility from them. It also helps him to repulse his most evil thoughts and dislike and recoil from them.

Allâh created the soul similar to a grinding stone that goes round and round – one that does not stop; and always in need of something to grind. If seeds are placed therein it will grind them. If stones are placed therein it will still grind them.

So the thoughts that revolve in the soul are like a seed that is placed in a grinding stone. That grinding stone is never left idle. Something or the other has to be placed inside it. So from amongst the people are those whose grinding stone grinds seeds which comes out as flour – which he and others derive benefit from.

But most of them grind soil, stones, straw and so forth – so when the time of making the dough and baking comes; he sees the reality of what he ground.

Do not attach your heart other than Allah

Do not attach your heart other than Allah by Ibn Taymiyyah

Imam ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah said:

“Anyone whose heart is attached to the creation, hoping for someone from the creation to help him or provide for him or guide him, then his heart submits to them and to the degree that his heart submits to them, he becomes their slave. This holds true, even if he is outwardly a ruler or guardian over those whom he treats as masters. The wise one looks at realities and not at appearances. So if a man’s heart is attached to his wife, even though that is permissible, his heart remains a prisoner to her and she may rule over him as she pleases – though outwardly he is her master and her husband. In reality, he is her prisoner and her slave, especially if she knows how much he is in need of her and how much he is in love with her and how much he feels she cannot be replaced by anyone else. At that point, she rules over him as the tyrant master rules over his subjugated slave, who cannot escape of go free. Indeed for the heart to be taken as a prisoner is a much greater matter than for the body to be taken as a slave or prisoner. Even a body that is a slave can have in it a serene and peaceful and happy heart. As for the heart that is a slave to other than Allah (the Exalted), then that is true humiliation, imprisonment and slavery.”

قال احمد بن حنبل

لا تقلدنى ولا تقلد مالكا ولا شافعى ولا اوزاعى ولا الثورى وخذ من حيث اخذوا

Deeds will not be accepted, except with two conditions

Deeds will not be accepted, except with two conditions

* Conditions must be based on what the Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa salaam legislated.

1. It must be done solely for Allah ta ala.

You must be sincere in seeking Allah’s Face, and not to show-off, and not to set up rivals with Him in worship.

Verily, We have sent down the Book to you (O Muhammad salla lahu alayhi wa salaam) in truth: So worship Allah (Alone) by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allah’s sake only. (Zumar:2)

Surely, the religion is for Allah only. And those who take Auliya’ (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say): “We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allah.” Verily, Allah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Zumar:3)

The Righteous are the example of being sincere, as mentioned in the Qur’an:

(They say) “We feed you seeking Allah’s Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. (Insan:9)

The Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa salaam said: “Whoever does not thank the people has not thanked Allah”

* There’s no contradiction between the ayah and the hadith, because what is intended is thanking people for doing something which was in their power and which they have in fact done, such as giving financial aid. It is very different than thanking a person for something that only Allah ta ala can do (like making it rain…) Also, it is forbidden to thank a person for something, believing that he acted independently, without Allah ta ala having ordained it. We must know that the bounty is from Allah, and all praise belongs to Him.

And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone. (Baiyinah:5)

Allah is well-pleased with them, and they are with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord. (Baiyinah:8)

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, radhi Allahu anhu, in a Hadith Qudsi, Allah ta ala informs us: “I am Independent of all partners (ascribed to Me). Whoever performs a deed while associating partners with Me, I will leave him and his Shirk.”

2. Whatever we do from the conditions of deeds, must be according to the guidance of the Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa salaam

An example is the statement of the Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa salaam:

“Pray as you see me praying”

Narrated Aisha radhi Allahu anha: The Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa salaam said, “whoever does an act that is not from us will not be accepted.”

Seeking beneficial knowledge is a must on every male and female. And we shouldn’t be lazy in seeking this knowledge.
